Deer Lakes High School= A Walk Down Memory Lane
Hey everybody! Hope you're all having a great day! I sure had a great day, I'm in such a great mood, wasn't the weather just beautiful today?
I woke up real late today at noon cause I didn't go to bed til 4 AM last night cause I was being a dork and watching "American Idol" finale over because I'm a dork and taped it while I was watching it so I'd have it forever. I was also watching E's Red Carpet of the event cause it was being replayed and my boyfriend Constantine was doing one of his rocker kicks and my baby falls flat on his butt and I loved it....that's my klutzy boy. Wanna hear something so sweet, there's a Constantine message board called "Greek Speak" which I read and the ladies on there all got together and set him this beautiful gold ring with words inscribed in Greek about being a star and he wore it last night on his wedding finger. What a beautiful man!
I got showered and ready around 1:00 PM and usually I throw on an outfit and everyone likes it but I'm never like totally in love with in it and never feel good about it cause like a typical girl I have self esteem issues, not today, I actually felt fabulous for once. I wore one of those flowing and crinkley prairie skirts that are in style in white, a white tank top and a cute blue jean jacket on top and these really awesome sandals that barely looked like I had anything on my feet, ever my hair looked really good and I looked tan and I haven't been tanning in awhile...it's that amazing Jergens stuff.
Claire and I headed off to DL High and we got there just as the day was ending, it was the middle of 9th period. We got in with no trouble cause Dan the Man and his Purple Truck were missing and Stoops was there and he doesn't give a shit what we do, I just told him I had to talk to Abbott about getting my transcripts to tranfer to a different college which was a bold faced lie.
We first went to Mike River's room. He was the best physics teacher ever, not that I learned a thing from, but he wasn't Shibley which made me happy cause I spent 2 days in Advanced Physics with Mr. Shibley and it was the scariest 2 days of my life so when I transfered into regular physics with Mike River, I felt much better. Plus this guy was my lovely homeroom teacher for 2 years and he was so nice. He was a very monotone teacher, but as a person, he was the sweetest and corniest guy. He had a baby boy this year with his wife who is so pretty! He was showing us pictures of the baby and he is adorable. Mike River seems to be the cutest wittle father ever, he got like choked up talking about his baby. He was asking me about college and he's like "I heard a rumor you changed your major to journalism"...Grantz was boasting about it. I was like why would T.Grantz be talking to my physics teacher about my major change, but more on that later. He talked to Claire about the Army and stuff cause he was in it and she's thinking about it.
Next Claire and I went our separate ways cause she wanted to talk to Miss.Beauchamp and I didn't have her so I went to visit Mr. Lou Nellas cause Liz sent me a text informing me that my enemy was not at the track championship, only fucking Grantz went. As I went looking for Nellas, Mr. Moore caught me and he's like "come and talk to me" and I told him I'd be back but I had to go talk to Nellas.
I like tiptoped into Nellas's room and he was like "OMG IT'S THE COLLEGE GIRL THAT HATES ME" and I was like "Shut up Nellas" which felt so good to do and I proceeded to thank him for kicking my ass junior and senior year by being so picky and being such a tough english teacher. Seriously he was like a college professor. I was so lucky to have him for Advanced Placement English. I told him how all my professors in college love my writing and how I was getting 100%'s on all my papers and he's like "Kayla I knew you had it in you, I was only hard on you cause you were one of my best students and I know I had to work you cause you had potential" He was like "So I hear you changed your major to english and journalism, Grantz told us"...I was like "Jesus Christ, why is Grantz like going from place to place telling all my former teachers I changed my major". Turned out fucking Grantz was always going on and on to my teachers that he knew I'd eventually change to journalism as a major. I complimented Nellas some more cause the man seriously needed to hear it cause they have destroyed his classes this year taking all the creativity and fun out of them cause the school board and administration would rather concentrate on us taking fucking SAT's and standarized tests cause of No Fucking Child Left Behind. It is true, creative writing, public speaking and media are all being dropped next year so people can take test taking skill classes. Mmmkay electives I excelled at and stuff you need like public speaking and how to write for college and the real world really don't matter, we just have to excel on our stupid SAT which as Nellas was like "Honestly Kayla how much did your SAT's mean to you and you getting accepted to all your colleges, they meant shit". You could tell how fed up Nellas was and I understand 100% completely, the man made us learn more than english, we listened to music, had cool quotes, watched current movies and applied them to past literature we were using, the class was amazing and it prepares you 485483838% for college. I'll never forget the days he'd pretend to be someone from literature or history and he'd dress up and it was hilarious. College English is a breeze. Nellas was like "I miss having to say "Kayla, shut up during class everyday". We talked about RMU some more cause he got his masters there and I told him I'd have my mom see what she could say about losing all these electives at the Parental Advisory Meeting for DL she's on. He also paid me a compliment: "He's like you walked into my class junior year as a little girl and even senior year you seemed so young, but you're a young woman now, you've grown up so much" We went our merry ways cause Nellas had more stuff to grade.
Next I went to Scotty Moore's room to speak with my future husband and I literally spent about an hour in there talking to him. He did the usual: "I Hear you changed your major to journalism". We talked about RMU and Moon Township cause he grew up there and how boring it is around there. We talked about the courses I'd be taking on literature and english studies, then we talked about how upset he was that public speaking and creative writing were getting taken away, and he was like "I loved you in creative writing, one of the most creative and fun writers to read" He always talks about my story about Dr. Jay Aubin, the dentist based on Mr. Jay Livingston and JS Aubin. He showed me some of the stories from this year and he's like "they pale in comparision to yours or any of the people in your class and your friends". He said to say hello to Mandy, Lace, and Sara and was sad he didn't get to hang with them more the last time they were. He asked how my summer was going and we talked about some other things that have to do with everyday life, then we talked about "American Idol" cause courtesty of Liz I knew he was obsessed with Bo Bice and he knew I was obsessed with Constantine. He was in mourning and we bitched about Carrie for awhile. We literally talked for such a long time, he told me to score an invitation to Liz's farewell speech to come in and watch and then he could have an excuse to talk to me more. Seriously I love that man, I had a huge crush on him in 10th grade but then I realized how dorky he could be but the crush is so back, and he's freshly divorced, so adorable, he's so easy to talk and Mr. Moore can be a pretty shy guy sometimes but me and him seriously talk forever. He was like "I saw your Jay Livingston over Christmas cause he was home"....I was like "OMG"...he's like "You still in love with him?". I was like "Oh he'll always have a special place in my heart". Then Scotty Moore was like "You look really nice today and you seem so much older and there's something different about you" I think Nellas and Moore are just seeing how much a senior year to freshman year of college changes you. Anyways I let him get going cause I lost Claire but she was still with Miss. Beauchamp and he told me to come in and chat anytime.
Claire and I couldn't find any more teachers, Madame Slomkowski went home, Mr. Lesko like wasn't there, and I wanted to go meet the new chorus teacher and tell her how to run the place cause I ran the damn place last year but I figured if the day was over and nobody was there, I can't see my chorus babies like Anne, Ben, Tony, and hell even Jackie and hear them sing.
It was weird walking through the halls past our lockers and how everyone seems so much younger than us and hearing the announcements at the end of the day....it was weird not hearing Sara's voice on them.
As we were leaving, Mr. Wallace was driving away and he saw us and rolled down the window cause Wally had to see me and Claire aka his best gym students ever. We spent more of gym clas chatting with him than doing anything. Wallace is still bald but he got married! He's such a nice man.
We left after that and went McDonalds for a bite to eat and chatted for like 2 hours about everything cause Claire and I had so much to catch up on from relationships, college, her job, everything and anything. I love having a group of friends that talk, when my friends and I are together, we never shut up.
Some guy called Claire that works with her to ask her something and she didn't want to talk to him, so I picked up the phone for her and he was like "You sound absolutely adorable" and he asked for my number. His name is John and he's supposidly really sweet, as Claire put it he's one of those guys that lets the female control the relationship and he's just a good guy. We'll see, I'm still holding out hope for my love triangle with Constantine and Mr. Scotty Moore.
I came home and just like that dad was there and my mom, Cam and my grandma and I all left for Cam's academic awards ceremony at Deer Lakes Middle School. It was very boring and we had no idea what the hell Cam was getting an award for, and as usual we were overdress, even James Posney was overdressed. Mr. Vukelich wasn't there but guys you'll love this, fucking Mr. Znosko was and he said "Mmmkay" and I almost shit my pants. That's where I got it from. Mr. Z should be proud!
It turns out Cam got an award for being in the top 10% of the 6th grade class and the gold presidental award from our "fine" president for having a GPA from 3.5 to 4.0 and scoring in the 85th percentile on those standardized tests. Fuck that shit, I got that award too, only when I got it, it was only the silver cause I didn't do good on the standardized tests.
We went to Monte Cellos for dinner and I got Tortellini and Tomato Sauce. It was good.
The Buccos won tonight 8-4...woo hoo losing streak is over! Everyone except Jose Castillo was involved in the offense. Oliver Perez even had 2 hits, and 8 strikeouts in pitching tonight!
Tomorrow's Matchup:
Josh Fogg (3-3) of the Pittsburgh Pirates versus Ramon Ortiz (1-3) of the Cincinatti Reds
Basically just today was a great day, I loved going back to DL High and people may find it pathetic but that place was a huge part of my life for 4 years of my life and what I loved best was you could form bonds with those teachers and I did, that's the main thing I didn't like about college, it wasn't about the work cause that was easy, I made friends and I really wasn't homesick cause I was home alot, it was the fact that I didn't have professors I could really form a bond with other than Dick Mills and I wasn't a big fish. At DL, I was a big fish and everyday was an adventure there and I felt like an ant at RMU. DL may be fun to make fun of, but we did have some great memories and without that place, I wouldn't have my amazing friends and all the great memories.
Anyways I'm going outside on our swing cause it's so pretty out and blaring some "Pray For The Soul Of Betty" and "Fall Out Boy"
Bye everybody!!!!

L12,13:I know Bush sucks, but maybe not too badly
I am well aware that I have previously stated my hate for Bush on several separate occasions. And while I am still not fond of him, while looking for more information on the OSHA requirements for the adult industry, I came accross some information that leads me to believe that everything Congress is...
